Hot lunch program in Vancouver schools

Recently, I discovered that Nova Food Services offer a hot lunch program to limited Richmond and Vancouver schools. I guess the schools have to approve and participate in the program. Nova Food Services offers nutritious, safe, and convenient lunches delivered right to the classroom. They offer a wide variety and balance of hot entrees, cold entrees, salads, drinks, treats, and fruits.
This program sounds great for schools that don’t offer a hot lunch program or parents that don’t have time to lunch for their children. You can place an order at 8am on the same day. You can choose to order lunches on certain days. The children will love to choose from a wide variety of foods. A regular size hot entree combo including drink and apple slices is $5.50. Plus Nova Food makes a donation to the school. Prices sound reasonable and its convenient!
Here is a Nova Food Services’ menu:

Does anyone reading this post use this service? Any reviews? Any thoughts?
July 1, 2009 | Danny | Comments 1Next Hell’s Kitchen winner to work at Araxi!
Update (Aug. 7th, 09): Check out this link featuring Gordon Ramsey on cooking, TV, and personality.

Although there had been a few rumors floating around lately, it’s now official: Everyone’s favourite Chef, Gordon Ramsey announced that the winner of the next season’s Hell’s Kitchen will go to work as head chef of Araxi up in Whistler!
This is exciting because I love going to Araxi! Ridiculously impeccable service and truly unbelieveable food are the norm every time I’ve been there. Araxi is easily in my top 3 favourite restaurants, the other two being Boneta, and La Buca (La Buca is a bit easier on the visa).
I found some more info as well as a preview of the press release over at Scout Magazine here.
[Thanks Jen for the tip]
June 24, 2009 | Jeremy | Comments 5Strawberry Season in Richmond (W & A Farms)
UPDATE (07/02/09): Strawberry season is over!
Everyday on the way to work, I pass by W & A Farms, a local grower of fruits and veggies. They are located on the northwest corner of Westminster Hwy and No. 8 Road. Each year, the strawberries they have during strawberry season are sweet and very tasty!
W&A Farms has two ways of getting strawberries: The U-Pick method, and the pre-picked method.
Their U-Pick stand is on the south side of Westminster Hwy just across the road from the actual W & A Farms’ barn. When you drive into the parking area, make sure you roll up your windows, we almost choked on all the dust that flew up as we rolled into place! The U-Pick is basically a small stand run by two guys with a giant field behind them. The rate is $2 per pound with a minimum $6 charge. They’re open everyday from 9am to 5pm, and the latest they will allow you to start picking is 4:30. We didn’t have time to actually do any picking ourselves, but maybe I’ll come back on the weekend. Instead, we went accross the street to buy some pre picked strawberries.
June 17, 2009 | Jeremy | Comments 0New Frosty Shakes at Wendy’s
I was clicking on the random videos that appear at the bottom of my MSN list when I saw an ad for a new product from Wendy’s that, from the ad at least, bares a striking resemblance to the Screamer’s from Danny’s Market:
I don’t go to Wendy’s very often, but when I do, I usually get a Frosty; they always seem to hit the spot on a warm summer day. These new Frosty Shakes definitely look like I have a good excuse to go back to Wendy’s to try one out!
I also noticed that as part of the Frosty Shakes promotion on the Wendy’s website, they will be donating $1 from every Frosty purchase to go towards helping to find homes for Canada’s foster children.
