Din Tai Fung in Shanghai
Din Tai Fung is an award-winning restaurant of Taiwanese origin and known internationally for its Xiaolongbao. It was ranked as one of the world’s top 10 restaurants in 1993 by The New York Times. I have visited the Hong Kong and Shanghai branches before.
It has also been voted as the most favored dining place by political and commercial celebrities and is one of the must-see places for national and international stars. There was a mural of Asian celebrities on the wall. If you look carefully, the celebrity which has visited this branch has autographed their mural.
November 1, 2009 | Danny | Comments 1Pearl Castle in Richmond Centre now open!
It’s been quite the wait, but as we mentioned earlier, Pearl Castle in Richmond Centre has finally opened! They’ve been open since last Thursday, and I finally got a chance to go check them out yesterday.
Pearl Castle is an immensely popular bubble tea joint in Richmond, and you’re almost guaranteed to have to wait in line if you attempt to go at night at around 10 or 11. Although many people prefer other bubble tea places, such as the popular Dragon Ball Tea House, Pearl Castle is consistent, they have great bubble tea as well as great food.
The new Pearl Castle in Richmond Centre is a franchise of the original one, which made me skeptical because I wasn’t sure if they just bought the name, or if they actually intended to faithfully recreate the original Pearl Castle.
October 6, 2009 | Jeremy | Comments 0Dragon Ball Bubble Tea in Vancouver
Dragon Ball is one of the most popular bubble tea spots in Vancouver. I find that the season and time of day do not make a difference at Dragon Ball. They are always busy. I have seen Dragon Ball make one hundred bubble tea takeouts for one customer in the afternoon. I’m guessing only the hospital can consume one hundred bubble teas in this vicinity. There are long line ups in the evening, but patrons of all ages love Dragon Ball!
What makes Dragon Ball so popular?
- Dragon Ball takes pride in preparing their pearls, which are soft, chewy, and lightly sweetened
- they are always generous with pearls, lychee, grass jelly, and/or coconut jelly in the drinks
- the bubble teas are consistently good

Review: Gogo Tea Cafe in Richmond
This evening we had our first meeting about our blog at Gogo Tea Cafe. We choose Gogo because of the free wifi and we are able to plug in our laptops for power.
Gogo is decorated with a very trendy contemporary interior. They offer decent bubble drinks and snacks.
