AYCE Kyung Bok Palace at Lansdowne in Richmond
We wanted Korean food to celebrate Steve’s birthday and since we were in Richmond, chose to try Kyung Bok Palace.
I noticed that most of the staff and patrons are Koreans. We took this to be a good sign as most of us are not so experienced with Korean food. After looking through the menu, we decided to try the “BBQ ALL YOU CAN EAT” for $19.95. I’m not a big fan of AYCE, but I went with the crowd.

Its been a while since I had dim sum. After hearing about Bing Sheng from Jeremy, I went there to have dim sum this weekend. Seating and service are usually not an issue for us because we typically have dim sum at 9AM-10AM. Why do I have dim sum so early? Its because I hate crowds and I like to do my weekly grocery shopping early in the morning! I was a little hesitant about Bing Sheng from the outside appearance.
The outside of the restaurant was very misleading. I felt much better upon walking in. The restaurant was nicely decorated with chandeliers, Chinese paintings and antiques, and a LCD TV. I was able to choose a table by the window because I wanted the natural light for my photos. The waitress used our Pu-erh tea to make the pot of tea. They offer a Chinese and English dim sum menu, but there no pictures and you have request for the English menu. We quickly checked off the dishes we wanted to eat and placed our order.

We decided to have lunch at Thai house today. Been coming here for lunch a handful of time over the years. Parking is a little challenging here. If they run out of parking spots then you might find some in the Sun Sui Wah parking lot. The parking lots are connected, but be careful of the reserved spots.
We all ordered the weekday lunch specials. The lunch specials are $7.50 which includes soup, spring roll, salad, plus your choice of curry with rice. Its quite busy during lunch time and most patrons ordered the lunch specials. The staff were very pleasant and friendly.

Borrowed the outside pic from acme7.worpress.com; hope they don’t mind..
I used to be a big fan of All-You-Can-Eat (AYCE) sushi back when I was a little younger, and not a food snob. Things have changed considerably, and now I would much rather have some quality Hamachi from Kiyo than gourge myself on mushy tuna sashimi at an AYCE place.
Despite my new preference, the odd AYCE event always comes up in the form some party. Last week, I celebrated a friend’s birthday at Richmond Sushi, one of my most feared AYCE sushi places. In years past, I remember going to Richmond Sushi and eating myself sick on their salmon and tuna sashimi. Even though I wasn’t a fan of Richmond Sushi, I would never turn down a birthday celebration with a friend.
We went to Richmond Sushi for their AYCE Dinner menu. Most AYCE places have different levels of their dinner menu; some make you pay extra for pop, or for sashimi. We went all out with Richmond Sushi’s “Superior Deluxe Dinner”. Although the SDD comes in at close to $30 bucks, it has it all: AYCE sashimi, prawn tempura, pop, etc. All the mediocre quality japanese food you could handle!

Another Aberdeen post! Soon we’ll have covered every restaurant in that place!
For lunch one day, we decided to make our way back to the Aberdeen Food Court. After getting some Deep Fried Chicken Wings at Wo Fung, I decided to grab my real meal from Lung Kee. ‘Lung Kee’ is not to be confused with the similarly named ‘Leung Kee’. Despite having similar names, they serve different types of dishes. Leung Kee specializes in more ‘classic’ Cantonese style dishes, for example, Beef and Egg swirl on rice, or Beef Stir fry with flat rice noodles. Lung Kee on the other hand has a much less diverse menu consisting mostly of congee, noodles and soup noodles.
