Long Table Series at Irish Heather in Gastown, Vancouver

This was my first time joining 604 Foodtography, Food and Tell, Foodie Adventures in Vancouver, I’m Only Here for the FoodMy Secret Eden, Sherman’s Food Adventures, and Yum-O-Rama food bloggers for a meal at the Irish Heather’s Long Table Series for dinner.  It was fun and exciting to meet a new group of bloggers that share a common interest.

Irish Heather

Tonight’s Long Table Series was sponsored by Steam Whistle Brewing. They were promoting Steam Whistle Pilsner - a golden, refreshing brew with a distinctive hop aroma, tasty malt flavour, and a clean, crisp finish.

Irish Heather was serving half a Cornish Game Hen for the night’s Long Table Series. The meat was cooked to perfection - juicy, tender and well seasoned. This dish included coleslaw, fries and gravy sides. I would have preferred the coleslaw a little more creamier and acidic. Next, the house cut fries were excellent. Surprisingly, the gravy was light and delicious. It was a perfect dip for the chicken and fries. Some of the fries on the bottom of the plate has been soaked with gravy providing a fabulous treat.

The meal was subsidized by Steam Whistle Brewing as part of the promo and marketing campaign. How else can a meal like this only be $12? Thanks to Kim for organizing the get together.

Five Loaves Rating:
Value: 9/10
Quality: 7/10
Overall: 8/10

Verdict: Half a cornish hen, coleslaw, chips and a bottle of pilsner for $12 is definitely an awesome deal!

Nice meeting you Danny! I hope you can make it out to more of these. Maybe Jeremy too!

Nice chatting with you Danny! I guess I’m just not an acidic-coleslaw lover…I appreciated the coleslaw as is. Hope to see you at other blogger meals!

Its nice meeting you all! I was hoping for a little of acidity. Not a big fan if its too acidic. But I would definitely come to the next meal. Cheers!

I’m with Danny, I like my slaw a bit more acidic. But that’s a personal preference. The texture was crunchy though!
