Food and deals at Starlight Casino

Starlight casino has a few good deals going on right now.

At the Salt & Pepper Cafe, you can start your day with eggs, bacon, hash browns, toast and coffee for only $3.99! Since I work very close to Starlight, this is very appealing for those days when I don’t want to make breakfast, or I ran out of Frosted Flakes.

The Gourmet Italian Pasta Lunch special is also very tempting because I can’t remember the last time I went out for lunch, and the price started with a ‘4′. Hopefully I’ll get the chance to go this week and tell you if it also tastes like a $4.99 lunch.

The Redbar Lounge also has a good deal going on right now: 50% offall Menu Entrees! This is available every Thursday, Friday and Saturday, but only from 6PM - 9PM. I’ve never been to Redbar, so if anyone knows how the food is, please leave a comment!

On a non-food related note, if you don’t have a BC Gold Card already, you MUST GO GET ONE!

The BC Gold Card is the BCLC’s way of tracking spending/usage patterns on all of the people that use it. However, if you aren’t concerned about sharing basic information with the BCLC, you can go sign up for a BC Gold Card because they give you a $5 voucher when you sign up. After signing up, you take the voucher straight to the cashier, and they’ll give you a crisp, and I mean REALLY crisp $5 bill. But if $5 bucks and a cheesy slogan (see below) isn’t enough to convince you, the BC Gold Card also grants you FREE access to the PNE! I went to the PNE on Saturday, flashed my Gold Card, and walked straight in.

You can sign up for a BC Gold Card at any BC Casino.

Back to the food: If Redbar or Salt & Pepper don’t tickle your fancy, the other Starlight restaurants, Schanks and Kirin are also very good!

I went to Schanks (sans camera) last week for lunch, and I was a bit skeptical. Being a Sports Bar, I don’t expect it to be phenomenal, because you really don’t go there for the food. When we arrived, I was again a little scared, becuase we were the only ones in the restaurant (that seats 1000).  I ordered the burger with the longest name: The Wild Mushroom, Smoked Gouda & Double Smoked Bacon Burger, and boy was it worth it! As far as burgers go, this one was actually pretty good! The meat was cooked well, there were ample amounts of mushrooms, you could taste the Gouda, and the bacon was relatively thick! At $13 bucks, it was a little steep for lunch, but it was good enough that I would consider going back!

Lastly, I’ve been told that the Kirin at Starlight is amazing, it’s one of Vanessa’s favourite place for Dim Sum. My parents went there for a wedding 2 weeks ago, and said that, not only does the decor look grand, but the food is top notch as well.

I’m definitely going to have to make a trip to Kirin for Dim Sum, and hopefully catch that lunch special as well sometime soon.
