Cafe D’Lite Express at Aberdeen in Richmond

Cafe D'Lite Express

I decided to try Cafe D’Lite Express since it looked busy during my last couple of visits to Aberdeen. My friend recommended this place because they enjoyed the Hainanese chicken. She told me that the original Cafe D’Lite is located on Broadway in Vancouver.

Cafe D'Lite Express' menu

After quickly scanning through the menu, I noticed they only serve a handful of dishes, mainly Hainanese chicken, curry, laksa, and different variations of them.

Cafe D'Lite Express' Hainanese Chicken Rice with Soup

I ordered their most popular Hainanese Chicken Rice with soup. The chicken was quite flavorful and served at a slightly chilled temperature. There was soy sauce lightly drizzled on the chicken and on the bottom of the rice. Oddly, the minced ginger was a greenish blob in the chili sauce. They obtained the colour from blending green onions and ginger in the food processor. I would prefer the minced ginger to be chopped by hand and separated from the chili sauce.

Five Loaves Rating:
Value: 7/10
Quality: 7/10
Overall: 7/10

Verdict: The Hainanese Chicken dish was a good deal for $6.50.
