Bob’s Submarine Sandwiches in Richmond

I love introducing the classics of Richmond. Bob’s Submarine Sandwiches are famous for their awesome subs where a group of us from the office had lunch there this week. The place is simple and has an unique 80’s feel, more like a canteen than a restaurant. I don’t think they have renovated in a very long time, which is not a bad thing. The Korean owner couple is always friendly.

Vernon ordered the 6 inch Super Sub with fries (the sub is $5.90 and the fries are extra). It contains double steak, double cheese, mushrooms, salami, capicollo, tomato and lettuce. Everything is cooked on the grill except the tomato and lettuce. Even the bread is toasted on the grill to soak up the leftover grease. The meat is warm and juicy, onions are caramelized, and mushrooms are soft. Vernon found the cheese too thick and chewy. Make sure you eat the Super Sub while its still hot and be prepared to get your fingers greasy!

Jeremy noticed that Bob’s also serves fried chicken so he ordered a drumstick on the side for $1. He vowed that the chicken is not bad and would order it again.

I ordered the Super Breakfast for $6. The breakfast came with ham, sausage, eggs, hash browns and toast. This was an awesome greasy breakfast. I would totally recommend it for taste and value.

Ah, Bob’s… If it wasn’t because I now work in Vancouver! The sandwich is like I remember it, down to the mess you are doomed to create in your attempt to eat it….. Huahahahahaha! :D

Yup, the messier the better! I’m not sure why Bob’s even bothers with the bun.. its really just a giant assorted meat, cheese and onion platter.
