I grew up drinking slurpees in the summer time and this must be one of the warmest summers that I can remember in Vancouver. Phil introduced me to Screamers a couple of years ago and was in shock when I didn’t know what a Screamer was! He brought me to Danny’s Market to experience what they’re famous for: The Screamer. They are always quite busy with people coming by for Screamers.
A Screamer is a combination of slurpee and soft serve ice cream. It sounds weird at the beginning but you should try it. I was skeptical at the beginning also but now I like them. The Screamer is served with slurpee on the bottom and soft serve on top. You have to mix it, slurp, and repeat the process until you finish the Screamer! The Screamer is pretty heavy and almost a meal itself. You should drink or eat it before the ice cream melts because its not as good once the ice cream melts.
I brought my friend Andrew to try Screamers for the first time on this run. He enjoyed his Screamer, but, and I quote: “I’m getting the biggest brain freeze ever!”
I ordered the Coke and Jeremy ordered the Cream Soda Screamer.
Screamers comes in the following flavors:
Coke
Cream Soda
Blueberry
Pina Colada
Rootbear
Orange Crush
Danny’s Market is offering a stamp card for the Screamers. Buy five and get the sixth free, however, they are very anal about double stamping the card. They’re very strict on one stamp per visit. I tried to pass my stamp card to my friend and they rejected the stamp card because of the restriction. In addition to this restriction, they said that they don’t even have stamp cards to give out right now, but will probably get some in July.
Screamers are also available at Baguette Time and Husky Market in Vancouver.
Five Loaves Rating:
Value: 8/10
Quality: 8/10
Overall: 8/10
Verdict: Caution! Screamers are good summer treats but causes brain freezes!
